Coolant Temp. Sensor. 2005 1.9 diesel

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm having problems starting my Octavia (2005. 1.9 diesel. 105 bhp) when warm. I've replaced the battery and am now thinking Coolant Temp Sensor. Is it the same procedure as the Vrs vehicle as shown on the site or is it in a different location on the diesel ? Is it do able on the drive ? Thanks in anticipation. Kev.

Yeah its the same procedure and should be easily do able on the drive. If it has never had the coolant changed now would be a good time to do it.

Hi Radders. Thanks for that. Not sure if the Coolants been changed.

The usual cause of this is a failing starter motor. The coolant temp sensor is often blamed in error as unplugging it will sometimes make hot starting easier.

If this is the problem and you decide to change the TCS and it is a two pin one remember there are two TCSs, one on the engine at the cylinder head nearest the battery and one on the radiator coolant outlet below the air intake. They are both the same sensor, just in different places.
