Just bagged myself a cruise control stalk for 35 quid..

When I get it, is it just a case of fitting it and plugging it in?

It's from mk4 golf

Advice needed thanks

think you need to activate it in vcds im not 100 percent sure

Is the stalk just plug and play appart from needing activation??

Ah he only had the stalk none of the other loom bits so I left it

After reading this I contacted awesome gti in Manchester and they will supply & fit with a warrenty for £120 which seems very reasonable as vwteeside want £89 just for the parts

Yes it is TBH, and you also get the newer cruise stalk which is less hassle to use than the older ones :D

You can get the stalk for £10-20 these days , but you still need the 2 looms which Teeside sell not cheap for either

main loom from stalk

Loom from fuse box to ECU.

which is £63 just for the looms. I bought both from Teeside a few years back for £30. seems like they are coining in on that,  when actually a lot less hassle to get Awesome to do these days.

I just like the messing about :D

I used to love messing about, but due to go in for a big surgery in the next month so for a extra £30-40 its a nobrainer for me lol, my problem is my motor (2002 tdi) accelerates from 70-95 too easily and all these average speed cameras and variable speed limits makes it too easy too donate to the taxman further!!!

I got a full kit from local skoda dealer comes with latest stalk, instructions and a 1 piece loom. Does need activating though but fitting is fairly easy, hardest part is opening up the engine ecu wiring plug the pins are tiny.

Have you got a part number for that for future reference?

This is by far the biggest headache of the job and as my eyesight is not what it used to be,  to try to read those dam numbers on the plugs is a right pita.
