Meguiars dual action power system (dual action polisher head powered by a drill). Any experience / thoughts?

Not keen on shelling out for a dual action polisher - this is half the price.

Seems to get good reviews online / forums etc.

I have a decent drill at home

Had an experiment on my 05 flamenco red fabia with clay mitt then the feracla scratch remover paste / paint renovator polish

Pleased with the test results so far - labour intensive though.

This looks like it could be a good half way house for someone like me who doesn't take it THAT seriously.

Any thoughts?

cheers

No, I think you'll find it is a `DA`.

If you really don't want to spend much at all and aren't worried about dual action... Try the chemical guys "good screw". So simple.

that's slightly different though isn't it ... it's an orbital (rather than dual action)

Slightly more risk of paint burning with the orbital one?

No...Its exactly the same

No risk of strike through. ie.Safe

Is that ebay DA  a good starter unit- as in will some of the pads you mention on here fit it?, or should I be looking elsewhere. Like the OP, I don't want to spend fortunes, but I want to buy wisely.

Sorry to hijack post, but this is of interest to me too.

Phil

Its superb value and includes all those pads...Its a kit

Just to add - you are the 2nd person this week to show me a link to this drill accessory! Scary indeed.

Save your self a lot of aggravation and do it right...... look at the kits available from all the reputable companies.

As the guys have directed above - these are great value and most of offer a discount code too...

You won't regret investing in a decent DA kit

I think I am going to go for this

+ chemical guys orange and black pads

(Already got some Feracla paint renovator, see how i  get on with that)

Thanks to all for the comments, tips and suggestions!

cheers

Recon that'll work far better than anything you stick on the end of a drill. Go for it!

It will,  but the Pro version will be even better if you can afford another £30

Let us know how you get on with it....

Does the features and higher power of the 'pro' version just mean that it will deal with scratches and swirls 'faster' / with less effort

Or will it be more 'effective' in some with dealing with defects in the paintwork

or are there other benefits?

As below, with the code its only £15 more, so if its worth it I guess i would.

It works quicker. Yes

Why not buy one of these...

Do you need to be a DW member to use the code?

Not sure but easy to do if required. Seems people put their DW user name in the comments when ordering then post there order number on the forum. Think I'm ordering on Monday!

I think this is what I am settling on. I welcome advice to potential change it but that's my budget!

A good combination

Shame you can't seem to find a combined kit with better value.

Have you dropped Simon at iShine car Care an email?

Might save you £10+ mate; he did me a kit for a friend at work.

Just had a look at the site. The machine looks the same just a different colour. How would the flexipads compare to the chemical guys pad and the liquid elements polish to the meguiars?
