Mats from a Golf Mk5 are the same.  Worth a search on ebay and the like for a good second hand set.  Got mine from a boot sale for £5.  Better than generic ones, as they've got the little snap-in pegs/eyelets that hold them in position.

Got my mats from local Skoda dealer , not cheap but the proper things that fit and snap into position. With the numplates I thought you had to prove ownership to get them made.

If ordered from a legitimate, above-board UK based company this is true. If however you're ordering from some dodgy place based outside the UK that will also sell you mis-spaced, dodgy bolt-hole placements, stupid fonts etc then you just buy one of their "Show Plates" without proof.

I got a set of new OEM Scout mats for £10 off eBay.

Number plates: for all the flack they get, Halfords do logoless, borderless, "clean" plates.......the legal information is there, but it's in a shade of white, so not easily seen unless you are looking for it. You do need to take the V5 and some ID with you when you get them made up though.

As long the font, spacing are right and they are reflective and have the manufacturer post code on the bottom pressed plates are fine as i have no issues from the police

Thanks v much for this info

I see many of the number plates stick on with tape -does this actually work ?

My old ones have screws seems more reliable.

Good call on the golf mats will look out for them

Cheers

3M VHB tape (Very High Bond) works an absolute treat :) :)

Well you wouldn't - because with the addition of the BS mark (which will amost certainly be there along with all the components you've mentioned) that makes up a legal plate.

The BS mark is the final touch to the plate and as far as I'm aware, the BS mark can only be legally placed on a plate when the manufacturer has conformed with the relevant ID check requirements.

Dodgy online place - chances of getting caught? Not particularly high, but it can be an MOT failure (which is a pain) and it can be a £30 pull. But as long as you stick to the correct font and spacing (and why wouldn't you because any other font/spacing looks absolutely terrible) you're fine 99 times out a 100.
