Door card removal

Featured Replies

In my quest to sound proof the new VRS, I was wondering if anyone has any detail on door card removal?. Ive done this sort of thing before but I do like to know where all the clips and covers are before I start.

Would be quite interested in this info too, will end up adding some dynamat or similar to my doors at some point to dampen some of the vibrations from the speakers and reduce road noise too :)

Check the manual, someone mentioned in another post that the doors have pressure sensors in them the panels can only removed by Skoda!

Rotten news if you want to swap the speakers over. Looks like I should have bitten the bullet and ordered the canton system in the first place. Oh well.

Didn't know about the pressure sensors, so that has saved me from getting into a pickle.

:D eh?  Never heard of that one and there's nothing mentioned in the manual either....

I think he's jesting? Generally there are a couple of hidden screws and then it's a case of knowing our figuring out where the panel poppers are. In no rush to do this yet though with my car being so new

From the "Bolero sound system on Octavia RS III" thread

"As a slight tangent - I was a bit surprised to read in the manual that changing the speakers is a 'specialist' job because the doors are sealed with pressure sensors for the side airbags. Don't know how serious it is."

Well that's a bit of a bugger then, not sure I fancy an air bag going off on me! Although disconnecting the battery first might avoid the issue?

That is very annoying, I do have the canton upgrade, the doors sound very hollow compared to my Audi so would definatley benefit from sound deadening. I will ask the dealer if its possible.
