Heightened suspension?

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm very new to all this so please bear with me.

I ordered a Yeti 8 weeks ago or so.

It was to be a bog standard 1.2 petrol DSG just a 2 wheel drive.

About 2 weeks before build week (25), the dealer contacted me to say that Skoda had been on to say that they were having trouble with the 16 inch wheel supplies, and would I accept the 17 inch Spitzberg wheels instead.

I said that would be fine and carried on waiting for the car.

I went to pick it up yesterday, only to find it was fitted with 16 inch Dolomite wheels.

I did not accept the car, wanting some answers to the following.

Using the Skoda UK site, there is a feature called "build my car" where you specify all the details required.

One of the options is to fit 17 inch wheels. When this is selected it produces a message that says words to the effect that you cannot specify 17 inch wheels without specifying "heightened suspension", when you do this everything is ok.

I now do not know if I am to have a car with raised suspension on the wrong wheels or not.

Does anyone know how to identify this raised suspension please?

Thanks in advance if any of the above makes sense to anyone, as I would love to go and pick up my Yeti.

16 inch wheels....now there's a subject.....others have tried in vain to get them fitted and you have landed the Holy Grail without asking....what irony

Personally I'd say thank you and hope your good fortune continues

Very strange, might just be a Skoda UK configurator anomaly. Heightened suspension option only occurs on the basic S spec indoor Yeti. The SE has 17" wheels as standard.

I would settle for the 16 inch wheels in a heartbeat, but not if the suspension is set for 17 inch wheels.

I've just tried the system and it only does that if you choose the 1.2 CITY, and not anything else, therefore I suspect it is a glitch in the system.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi. I have just re-checked skoda.co.uk and they don't appear to even list a 1.2 City. How many sites do they have?

There are 2 models of Yeti, the OUTDOOR and the other one, otherwise known on here as the City or Indoor.

Members of the UK16"SpecialBuildClub would congratulate you on managing the substitution without the blood, sweat and tears that we had to suffer  .  AFAIK none of us heard anything about suspension heights - the o/a diameter of the 16" and 17" tyres are within a gnat's whisker of each other - so go for it.  In a heartbeat!!

Well, got it today.

At the moment I am a bit overwhelmed with all the gadgets and gizmos on the car. If the bloke at the showroom had not set up my Bluetooth whatsit, I doubt if I would have found it.

I have driven it home (20 miles) on a mixture of roads and it feels most impressive. Perky little motor, very comfy, a good ride and a great view.

It seems there was a mix up re the 16 or 17 inch wheels. Mine is shod with 16's and feels absolutely fine. Lovely car.

Thanks to all that contributed, it's very confusing for an old'un like me.

Cheers, John.

Good for you!  Enjoy it...
