Clutch pedal

Featured Replies

Hi  my name is Sarah I was wondering if anybody could help, we have a skoda octavia 4x4 1.9tdi 2006 and has done 810000 miles. The clutch pedal started sticking halfway and then eventually got stuck all together, we took it to the mecanic who said he wasn't sure whether it was the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder but to do the easiest job first, so we replaced the clutch master cylinder only to find a week later its sticking again not alot but you can feel it, can anybody help im tired of been ripped off! HELP!!

Hello Sarah

There are thankfully only a limited number of things it could be.  I presume your mechanic checked it's not a fault at the pedal end (to be fair, this would be very unusual), so the next query will be the slave cylinder (other end of the pipework to the master cylinder), the armature that the slave cylinder actuates, release bearing and then the clutch itself I'm afraid.

It's not easy to diagnose at the other end of a car forum and I'm a bit surprised a mechanic can't be sure whether a master cylinder has gone or not.  They usually leak, or seals go, which reduces or prevents fluid movement.  Someone else might have a better view than me, but I'd have thought a pedal sticking was less likely to be master cylinder failure than a mechanical failure elsewhere.

Did you get the judder of your previous post resolved.  I know it's a while back, but they could be related.

You might get a better response in the Octavia sub forum than in the introductions area.
