Tcut has left hazey paint

Featured Replies

Was helping a friend with his car the other day and noticed a faint scratch on his rear quarter. So gave him a hand to wash and dry the car so he could have a go at using some t-cut to try and sort the scratch. I left him to it, but the area he has used the t-cut has now come up a little hazey. Just wondering if there's anyway to sort this out? Cheers for looking! Dan

Others will offer a more knowledgeable answer but I'm guessing that T cut does not have deminishing abrasives it it so has left very small scratches on the surface. Providing he's not gone though to the basecoat (assuming it's modern type paint of base coat and top coat) then one of the farecula products - either the paint renovator or scratch remover with 1 of their waffle pads of you don't have a machine polisher depending on how bad it is should sort things out as they have deminshing abrasives in them that leave a smooth clear finish. You can get both at Halfords for around a tenner.

there's vids on youtube showing what to do if you need them

Cheers for that! will give it a go, its a nearly new fiesta zetec s so im guessing the paintwork should be modern enough haha.

Should be! The other thing he might have done was get some contaminants off the paint mixed in with the Tcut that caused the problem, though I'm no fan of Tcut as iy doesn't seem to have moved with the times. You might want to get a farecula clay mit and use that with some really lathery suds as a lubricant to make sure there's nothing to scratch the surface. Just put loads of suds on and gently wipe the paint until it feels smooth. 3 for 2 on at Halfords too!

Sounds like it needs machine polishing to me

Noooooooo tcut is the devils work lol. Lots of people call it rocks in a bottle.

Basically, sounds like you've marred the surface... Tcut is far too agressive IMO.

Try using either meguiars paint cleaner, or compound

M205 would probably tackle it

A Machine polish will sort it out

Thanks for all the replies fellas! Going to try and get it sorted out over the weekend! Cheers again!

If you don't have a machine I'm not far from you so could give you a hand with it

I didn't think you could use T-cut anymore with modern water based paints
