boot lock

Featured Replies

hello all,me boot sometimes opens with key fob, other times not in which case i have to open either one of the rear passenger doors and then i can open it.baffling me and not helping my love / hate relationship of bloody car.anyone any ideas please much appreciated if you have

This can be a sign of a failed microswitch in the driver's door (very common issue across VAG cars).

Does your lights-on alarm work?

Does your interior light come on when you open the driver's door?

Does your car lock itself if you don't turn on the ignition before 20-30 seconds after you've unlocked it with the fob (and opened the driver's door)?

hi, no the lights on alarm doesn't work and the car does lock itself after 30 seconds or so but the interior light does work.have also replaced 3 locks(both rear doors and the drivers, albeit with 2nd hand one in the last year)

p.s would this mean another new lock on drivers door?  many thanks

Usually the interior light will still work when you open the car with the fob and when you turn off the engine but it should also work when the driver's door is opened regardless of the other automatic operation. I'd say from your symptoms that you definitely have a failed microswitch on the driver's door lock unit.

Try this - unlock the car with the fob and open the driver's door. Leave it open for 30 or more seconds. Does the car lock itself with the door open?

OK, definitely a failed microswitch.

would it need a whole lock replacement or is there a fix possible

Well the switch is considered an integral part of the lock assembly and I don't think Skoda sell them separately. I have seen people obtain a switch from places like ebay though.
