The HU in me furby is a Pioneer 8600 -

Got home last night, turned the engine off and removed the key. The unit beeped as it should before the face slides forwards to be removed. Only it didn't slide

Turned ignition back on & pressed the eject button and it made the beep but didn't slide....

**insert 12am swearing session**

went to bed, got up this morning, jumped in car & did the same routine as above & it suddenly works again????

A shot in the dark i know but does anyone have any idea why this may have happened...it's been installed since Feb and it's never happened before...

ta,

MPM :D

Pioneers are very tempremental (sp?) about heat. If they get too hot, or are exposed to the sun for a very long time, they can sometimes act a bit funny. They always go back to normal once the temp reduces though.

funny you should suggest that, it did feel a tad warm & i kinda (before i broke down in a fit of frustration) hoped it was heat related.

The heat was primarily from itself tho as ambient temperature, although high for UK was nothing really to write home about. Ho - hum, i just hope it doesn't happen when i'm parked somewhere uber-dodgy cause i had issues leaving the face on here at home - let alone a car park somewhere!!

It's probably a safety system to minimise fatigue on the internal moving ribbon cable when the temperature in the car gets very high. My Kenwood MASK was great but I had to replace the ribbon cable and associated parts about once a year because of this very problem. Wasn't a simple job either.
