Broken Mirror Case

Featured Replies

My nearside mirror was hit whilst I was parked and a piece of the casing has broken away. Luckily  I found the piece which is still intact and fits perfectly back into the mirror.

Can I just use superglue to glue the piece back in or would it better to us a different glue.

Thanks.

I broke my off side door mirror casing at the thinnest outermost part of the plastic.

I used superglue and yes, it does work and stuck the two halves together but I ended up with a very visible glue line.

I eventually decided to buy a new casing, got it sprayed (about £45 a few years ago), and refitted it myself.

Mines broken off on the side of the mirror at the bottom corner, and goes up the side ?

How did you get the pieces to hold together whilst drying ?

Was the casing a new one ?

Thanks.

With Superglue you only have to hold the two parts together for a couple of minutes (I just held them) then

leave it for a hour or so for it to fully go off, (it sticks skin to skin so be careful). If that happens carefully peel the two

bits of skin apart with soapy water. If you just pull the glued area apart you will tear lumps off yourself.

The casing was a new one, it was a bit of a awkward task to fit it in place but it went on eventually.
