Front cornering fog lamps

Featured Replies

I have a Elegance 2.0TDI with xenons and front cornering fog lamps.  I didnt know the fog lamps can come on automatically until this was pointed out by another motorist.  Below 40km/hour the lamp on the side you are turning towards illuminates with or without the indicator on, if the headlights are on and you have a moderate amount of lock on!  This is detailed in the manual.  Does anyone know if this is legal?

Its supposed to do that and its perfectly legal I'm presuming as loads of cars have done this for ages :-)

Yes it's legal or otherwise it wouldn't be done.

Yes its legal. Mercedes have been doing it for years and the MK2 superb elegance does this as well. Another thing, when you select reverse both foglights will come on to illuminate the road directly in front of the car.

Yes perfectly legal. Cornering lights have been around on VAG cars for ages now. I had them on a couple of Mk6 Golfs and never found them all that useful, dont have them now and dont miss them.
