Rev limit

Featured Replies

Just curious

I know when you have a remap some companies raise the rev limit by 200rpm but can the 1.8T actually go higher?

Been watching some 1.8T related video's, mostly from europe where the needle is way past the end of the rev counter lol

The limiting factor is the hydraulic lifters, if you go to high then the valves cannot keep up and get smashed by the pistons. Usually going higher means serious upgrades to the cylinder head. Dont forget the "Maximum engine revs exceeded" fault code as well.

Yes you can increase

All down to turbo aswell if small turbo it's dead at 6k no point reving past that

Big big turbo you need to rev to 8+ k as that's the power band

Hydro can rev to 8.5 without issue

The issue is the valve springs need exhaust side upgrading to stop float

Valves are fine aslong as the guides are new

The ones ive seen are the supercar eating S3's

I imagine a slight higher RPM would increase top speed slighty although not much use in the uk tbh

Not much point if maximum bhp is at lower rpm
