Our exclusive images show how the car could look.

:wall:  read that as "They are exclusive in that we've mucked about with Photoshop again and stuck on the latest Skoda front end onto a picture of an Octavia, and then rescaled it to make it look bigger. In reality, the new Skoda Superb won't look anything like this aside from having a Skoda badge on it!"

Very nice! Also good to hear that the Roomster will be consigned to history....!

To be replaced with a baby Yeti, also along with a bigger Yeti to sit alongside the Superb.

Nothing wrong with the Roomster, interior space bigger than the current Yeti and better made than the current Rapid and Fabia. Granted, the looks will not win beauty awards but then there are cars around that are uglier (Nissan Juke anyone?). At least the quirky looks of Roomster were mostly a result of strict design constraints (unmodified Fabia front + almost unmodified Golf rear to reduce costs) rather than a product of demented imagination of some car stylists. I view axing the Roomster as another blow to Skoda's "value for money" brand image, at least in the eyes of private buyers. After Roomster is gone, Rapid offers same platform but worse cabin comfort and 50% less peak load space, for 10% more money. Yeti, while more upmarket and certainly more attractively looking than the Roomster, also has 10%-20% less load space and costs 20% more.  But as we all know, for the past 5-6 years, it's mostly the corporate buyers who Skoda are after....so the cars have to look good, have low emissions, at least on paper, and last for 3 years (and not necessarily much more).

Though it would be great if Mk3 Superb again presented timeless classic lines like Mk1 did. Mk2 Superb was uglier, less comfortable, at least for tall drivers, and more fault prone than Mk1, though Mk1 was no saint with water ingress and CV boots. Let us hope the trend reverses with Mk3 Superb, preferably also putting a stop to quality deterioration across the brand. In the past, it was repeat private purchases that made a up a large proportion of Skoda sales, let us hope the management does not forget it in the mad rush for corporate sales.

My man you've nailed my thoughts on the matter in one.

I thought the next Touran was going to be rebadged as the Roomster? Or will it have a new name?

Guys, the all new Passat is now up for viewing and configuring on the vw.co.uk website under new cars. It will give you and excellent idea as to what the next Superb will possibly come with as options and as standard. There maybe a broucher avail but I didn't look.

I like the new Passat but hope that the MkIII Superb is as good value as current one is so its inside my budget. I specced 3 Passats tonight from SE -> GT and they all came up to about £29,500 each time. If I can get the next Superb specced similar and close to the £26,000 mark I will be shopping in my VRS for a GT Estate equivalent with 4 options.

Also, Autoexpress has a feature on the anew Passat, makes a thoughtful read as to what might the next Superb bring to the party!

Given most Octavia specs are mid 20s, I'd expect the superb to be between that and over 30k

I noticed larger wheels, 658mm vs 629mm, and despite increase there is a full size alloy spare, same as rest wheels on the car, which is exactly what I have ordered for the last 3 Skodas. Larger wheels are good for comfort (and for looks), and I guess good for VW to keep existing gearsets while increasing gearing by 6%. Top 2 diesels are very tempting (190bhp and 240bhp), but as is usual in VW, you cannot have them without a ton of electronic gizmos, mandatory leather, and in case of 240bhp, also mandatory autobox. Fuel tank is 66l, so clearly someone has regained sanity after last Golf/Octavia's 50l range-cutter.

It would be nice for VAG to make again a robust and reliable long distance cruiser, with a powerful diesel, manual gearbox, cloth or velour upholstery and as few gizmos as possible (xenons or projector halogens, heated seats and cruise control are pretty much it, I wouldn't say no to the now available heated steering wheel though).  Or they could let Skoda to put 190bhp in S version Mk3 Superb.... though if the Germans continue their debate on road tolls and introducing blanket speed limit on autobahns, by the time I order it may well turn that 150bhp is all you need in a Passat sized car

But overall, looks like Mk3 Superb is shaping up very nicely.

By the way, if you use Chrome you may find that the configurator does not work (left click is not registered). It works just fine in Internet Explorer.

Booooooooooo is all I can say to that! I want the MkIII to be as good as my MK Ii was, but really don't want the prices to climb up as high as you think they will.

Mind that the Passat GT with a few extras (below) came to £29,300 ish:

Heated windscreen & front seats,

Heat & noise insulating tinted glass,

Window blinds in rear,

Rubber boot mat,

230V socket in rear,

150bhp 2.0 TDi,

Tungsten sliver paint,

That's a pretty well standard spec of car with the few little things I'd like to make it mine. If the Superb comes anyway near as well standard spec as the Passat SE even, I will be a very happy man. I do however think that one of the kids will have to be sold to fund it if it's above £26,000 !!!
