Possibly selling up :(

Featured Replies

So at the start of the week i received word i may be going to work in romania.

so my car may be going up for sale in the next month or so.

good car, low miles, used zero oil, rare colour combo, its been a pleasure to own.

if it goes to a garage ill post up their details, like i've seen others do.

Gutted to have to do this, first my Focus ST due to a £20,000 pay cut at the start of the year and now the fabia, which i have actually grown attached to and literally love. its such a great car.

This is all unless somebody knows the specific laws of owning a car in romania?

At a guess,having just sold mine,perhaps £7500 trade in,£8500 private sale.

The three dealers I was involved with all used the CAP guide, so you would be as well getting a price from that so at least you know the bad news first!!

sheiiiit, thats a big drop in price, i paid 10k around 5 months ago :/

always go private, why give dealership your money?

Lookup what the import tax is and get it on Romanian plates? Or maybe don't bother if it's a temporary (2-3 years) thing? I see quite a few GB plate cars regularly around here.

Would be a shame indeed to part with it for this reason.

Did the Dealership MOT it before required then for you collecting it, 4 months ago,

or do you mean still 8 months until it is 3 years old.?

EDIT.

Scrap that, need to go to Specsavers,

 thought i read 61 plate.

So is it out of Manufacturers Warranty & no Extended Warranty?

george,

MOT when i picked the car up

It has been given the warranty any dealership would give it when purchasing a car

1 year.

if it were sold to a dealership, when they resell it it would be sold, im assuming with, another 6month/

good call that would be a good plan

good plan also, i wil get looking tomorrow

1 year warranty.

Sorry to hear this matey. How long do you have to go to Romania for?

I always sell privately when I can but I didn't feel there would be many cash private buyers for mine, bearing in mind they seem, rather unjustly,to have acquired a dubious reputation.

Obviously as prices fall they become more likely to sell privately.

Defo go private. It's possible to get a decent trade-in offer from a dealer if they can also sell you a new car but if you are just selling it to them then expect to get your pants pulled down :-(

its a trial between two companies, so initially 2 years, if we do the better job and win the contract we will be out there possibly for the rest of our lives...

Thats what i was thinking, who will want to just buy a car, unless its knockdown prices..

other option is either try and get it over there or have it sat on my parents drive for when i come home.
