Monte after a VRS

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My brother is coming back from an overseas posting shortly. He is looking for a new Fabia. He tells me he is looking for the 105 Monte, not the 75. But His last car wa the 130 VRs and that was mapped to 167.

Can someone tell me if the 105 Monte will be anything like the 130 VRs. if you know what I mean. I think if it was me I would regret it, and I think he will but i know nothing about these new Fabias.

Thanks...

I've been in both a re mapped Fabia mk1 Vrs and a standard monte, not sure of engine spec on that though.

I can tell you they are NOTHING! even close to each other

I would agree. I used to own a standard mk1 vrs and it's a totally different beast to the monte 105 (a mate has just bought one).

Although the 105 is probably almost as quick it certainly doesn't give the same shove as the mk1. Although the mk1 felt so much quicker than it was, in some ways it was more fun than my mk3 octavia vrs tdi.

He needs to go drive them.

But he can fit a Tuning Box and have more or the same as he had with the vRS.

Suspension can be improved with a rear ARB fitted

The Fabia MK2 section would be a good place to ask. There are 1.6 TDI CR owners there with Remaps.

A Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 105 ps might be worth a look at,

it can get a Remap or a Tuning Box Fitted and get up to around 130 bhp

PS.

There are Seat Ibiza Diesels with more go as standard than the Fabia Diesels,

& the Fabia MK2 FL ends production sometime in the near future,

maybe there will be a good Replacement Diesel with the new ones, but maybe next year before they are available

Aah, the 105 is a petrol... didn't pick up on that one! Doh, assumed it was diesel. Whats the Monte Diesel got?

No there are 105ps  1.6 TDI  & 105 ps 1.2 TSI

Oh, ok see I said I didn't know anything! Sounds liek the 105CR with a Revo remap will be the best way then... possibly. But its his choice. Id stick with the Octavia but he refuses point blank to have one.

I have owned both mk1 vrs and monte 105cr

The monte lasted me a year which tells you everything

Mapping the 105 though could be a good idea (as you say) if he wants a newer motor
