Towing Electrics

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2007 estate 1.9tdi. How is the best way to wire in the towbar? Not too bothered about 13 pin as I think more for trailer towing than caravaning.

Thanks

Mark

You will need a Trailer plug & socket, simply splice into the car rear light cluster for side, brake & indicators.

Thanks for your replies. Was hoping to ger a part number for a loom. don't like scotch locks. Are any of the other models interchangable with the plug in looms? Also its a March 2007 so towards the end of the mark1's. Was a demo first so guess was still up to date! Do they need any coding?

Thanks

Mark

I don't like Scotch locks either, but a bit of a tip - it's possible to use crimps and fitt wo wires into one end and single into other. Maplin do heat shrunk crimps ,but if in doubt , you can always add a bit of heatshrink before the crimps and once the crimp HS is shrink and cool, slide othr over wires and shrink . ( slide two wires into HS, and slide well down. strip two wires and add to crimp. Make crimp off on both sides, and heat. slide extra down to cover wire entrance and heat. )
