I am thinking about changing my ecu to non vag. I am getting tired of paying for remaps every time I modify a bit more, and need to be able to change maps between full on and mild street for daily commute.

I would speak to Faboka about this since I'm quite sure he's thought about it thoroughly already, I dare say you could build a megasquirt that would do the job on a race car, the problem comes with all the communication between the other systems on a standard road car.
