darksides hardpipes

Featured Replies

anyone got a set for sale or a good alternative?

I've posted in the wanted section for a while now, may have to bite the bullet and buy a new set!

Over priced for what they are.

but proper kit!

Agreed, pipes and cooler come to over £550.

A lot of the Darkside stuff looks good, but it must be possible to get it cheaper elsewhere?

Or is the fact they are the only source what keeps prices high?

Yeah there are some Chinese fakes but couldn't advise on how good they are

If your prepared to put in the time and effort you could make your own intercooler pipework and approaching a welding bloke to weld them all together!

Even if a small silicone joiner is needed in the centre somewhere for some movement, I've never had a problem with silicone pipes even without the alloy being beaded :)

You need some silicone pipes anyway to allow for engine movement.

As long as the pipes connect each component together with out any leaks then jobs a goodin. If you want to spend £100 or £300 that's up to you.

It's just a few angled pipes welded together.

If it was a fancy single piece pipe bent to shape would be much better.

Didn't xavier have fun fitting the darkside kit?

I believe they are a pain to fit if you are running OEM xenons, washers are in the way and foul I think.

Cleaned up. :)

Please keep things civilised!

If someone could/would design a fairly priced piping set that's better than oem for all pd engines, I'd be eternally grateful.

surely a fab and weld shop could put a few sets together? i know EMP performance have done hardpiping kits before, using mandrel bent stainless.

if someone could find a shop that would make them and get a group buy going you could get them at a better price than darkside?

Best case scenario imo, is fit a FMIC before you start changing pipes, then silicon joints at all starting points, from intercooler, turbo and EGR or EGR delete pipe, then just one silicone joint in the middle.

Its always a custom job obviously different inter coolers and mounts will result in different pipe work, any place that specialises in bending, welding alloy will be able to do it but if you can get the job done for any less than £200 inc both pipes, you are lucky,

Darkside are custom building that kit like anyone else woudl have to do, assuming it comes with a mount, the cost probably breaks down like

£250 for the intercooler

£100 for the Mount

£200 for the pipes

realistically that's not going to be that easy to beat unless you dont mind extra silicone joins scatted around, without welding and custom bends, just using standard allow pipes and bends on a DIY your going to be looking at at around 3 or 4 silicone joins per pipe, and less joins less chance of boost leaks.
