Milotec 410/04 Bumper Vents

Featured Replies

Having recently fitted these to my Vrs I thought I would share the potential problem of damaging a standard side mount intercooler as i dont have the luxury of a FMIC.

Drivers Side

I first undid the wheel arch liner and slipped my hand into the gap between the i/cooler and bumper, feeling there was quite a gap I pushed a piece of sheet metal in there to act as a barrier. Then drilled 4 corner holes for the cutout and joined them up using a pad-saw.

As the pic below shows there is a huge gap lower down that reduces to the top of the I/C to about 1 1/2" (still plenty).

After I completed both sides and left the adhesive to set (Tigerseal) took the car for a 70mph spin (de-restricted dual carriageway), back at the house checked the intercooler body with a laser temp gauge through one of the slots and got 22 deg C.

NB: Also have the inner slotted wheel arch mod and engine is on a std map

Passenger side

There is a huge internal gap with nothing to worry about drilling holes in.

How To: Milotec Bumper vents fitting

Lol which I used buddy, thank you very much  .

However there was no mention of the close proximity of the std intercooler to the side wall, at the time of your fitting you had a FMIC yes?.

Clamps and heavy toolbox + bits of wood did the trick so thanks once again Mark.
