Received today a call from the dealer for O3 recall: change of indicator switches and software update (w/o details).

 

It is curious as they told me that a number of O3s here are affected, not only 1.8 TSI.

 

I booked for Thursday, so I will let you know when I have more details

Do you have cruise control?  This sounds like the cruise control issues some on here have suffered - the dodgy switch and the self-cancelling problem in the DSG s/w

Ah yes, it may be that. I have both cruise control and dsg - it did cancel itself a couple of times on really bumpy roads.

Seems logical to have a recall for that, hope they fix this

It is not because the cruse control switch is actually faulty from what I've heard. It's because some drivers are stupid enough to leave it on all the time then when using the indicators they accidently hit resume and wonder why, especailly in a DSG model, it takes off on them.

They are changing the tension on the rocker by just making it harder to push the set and resume parts of the switch apparently.

I would prefer if it was on a separate stalk as I have accidentally 'indicated' left or right when using it.

I haven't had that fault myself, but others have reported the CC just engages itself for no apparent reason.  The issue with the DSG software seems to be an improvement rather than a cure.  Rather than cancelling randomly every 2 - 200 minutes it's now more like once every 3000 miles or so.

It's daft if you ask me.  The ACC system is on a separate stalk but bog-standard CC isn't.

This was exactly why I chose the ACC system because I hate the VAG standard cruise control switch on the indicator stalk.

The ACC stalk works very nicely as do buttons on the steering wheel (same as Ford/Volvo which I had in the past).

Plus the ACC system works very well for driving in Switzerland & French highways.

never had any issues like that with it being on the same stalk on my mk2. Personally think it looks neater than having a third stalk.

This when ever I drive my mums bmw cruise is on this random stalk that I seem to whack when indicating. Maybe that's why they don't indicate!

Never had an issue and I use cruise a lot.

Having taken my car back today - yes, it was the dodgy switch of the cruise control, which is now more like my old Mk2. Only time will tell whether it will self-cancel or not.

They have also updated the software of the board computer

So far I dont feel anything different, but I suppose the recall improves things
