I am thinking of updating my Columbus using the download here, but just wondered if there is a downside, like wiping settings, Favourite and such like.  Any help based on experience, appreciated.  Thanks.

No, the update isn't a firmware/software update for the Columbus, it is only the map data, so all your existing settings & saved locations are not changed.

Perfect - thanks.  Assuming you have updated your Columbus, how long did it take?  I have a reasonably fast USB stick that I will unzip to, and wonder whether the update will complete within a 70 minute journey that I will be making tomorrow...  The zip file is 17.1GB.

Mine took less than 1 hour (45 minutes I think) & the Columbus is fully usable while the installation is on-going.

If its not finished during your journey it will just continue in the background (it doesn't need ignition on).

I have a build week of 35. Is there any point to download this in preparation or are they pretty well up to date when built ?
