Finding a way to vent quickly

It's difficult to offer serious advice without coming across like David Brent. Having said that, thinking "how significant will this be in a day, week or year?" helps tremendously. It's just one in a long list of ways of handling it.

I think you already know what the answer is when you refer to the things you can influence (and therefore the things you can't).

I have a wood burning stove which requires a nice wood pile...................I go & split some wood with a sledge hammer & wedge or a big axe.................

Have found in the past that any pasttime that involves breaking things (such as chopping wood) is a good one for stress.

The other end of the spectrum though is to bury yourself in a detail orientated project - you concentrate so much on it that you forget the stresses outside.
