Drop it down - good price for H&R?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm considering the H&R cup suspension kit. I notice some people prefer to mix it up with Bilstiens shocks. Is there a reason for this are the shocks not too good from H&R?

I see demon tweeks are selling at £565 for the kit but a US ebayer (looks legit to me) sellign for £465 ($780) plus shipping. Is around £500 a good price for this & can anyone say how much these kits cost to fit from a garage, from their experience? PM if you dont want to say to the wider community.

Also is the ride similar but with better dampening over holes & bumps or is there more?

Excuse my ignorance, i've never changed my shocks & springs before & want to get it right & with your advise it should help point me in the right direction - here's hoping.

Your help & comments are all welcome.

Regards

Mark

The eBay seller is not in the US but is in Germany. I would message him and ask what the price in GBP or Euros would be.

It won't cost that much to ship from Germany to the UK.

I've got bilstein b8 shocks which are shorter and firmer than the bilstein b6 with -50mm H&R springs. My reason for this is that I didn't want coilovers as I didn't want the car dropped too low, I preferred the put it in and forget about it. The reason I mixed was for the extra

Bit drop over the -30mm springs which will only drop a Vrs 15mm more as it's already lowered 15mm from standard Octavia's. My car sits about 30mm lower than standard suspension set up. Both are quality bits of kit that perform very well on road or track. Personally I wouldn't put cheap coilovers on. You get what you pay for ! Others will say that are ok but I couldn't see them outlasting a decent shock/spring setup. If you do go for coilovers buy quality low mileage secondhand. Mine were about £200-£250 to get fitted. Also you will need wheel alignment thereafter.
