Front lower suspension arm replacement...ahhh, luxury!

Featured Replies

My front lower arms have been knocking more than a very knocking thing, for the last few months.

It's been a right irritation, but something that I have had to live with, due to my modest and meagre financial situation as a student...

I knew that the best replacement would be with some nice new Lemforder arms and ball joints. Euro Car Parts seemed to be a good supplier, with the bits coming in at just over 100 quid. However, the replacement of all the bits seemed like quite an involved job for the driveway mechanic - and I would then still have to get the tracking done after anyway.

A local garage quoted me 200 quid including vat, to fit Lemforder arms and ball joints, and track up the front wheels. Which, the man told me when I collected the car, was a total bitch of a job due to seized track control arms. Took him nearly an hour, using his oxy-acetaline torch!!

Anyway - nothing particularly interesting to see in this thread I have started - other than I am happy to have had the parts replaced for what I think was a decent price, which avoided me much stress to do so myself.

And the moral / message is: if your Octy VRs is knocking / wayward at the front, then do get the arms replaced ASAP! The difference is like night and day on my car. She drives and rides like a bloody limousine now since the work was done! It's quite unbelievable the difference it has made.

Er, HTH! :D

Doing mine this week :-) it isn't that noisy but doing it for piece of mind and preparation for some decent mods.

Ideal time to fit a cast tt arm conversion :p

I've a knocking noise front left. Garage says nothing is obvious. Wonder if these things could be the culprit. With inspection can you tell if they are knackered?? Had ARB replaced recently so not that.

Check your drop links they knock /rattle if worn a bit

Should of bit the bullet and sourced all the tt / S3 bits

I noticed a big difference when i did mine.

Good result for you
