No vibrations!

Featured Replies

I've just fitted the red powerflex dogbone bush and tbh I cant really tell a major difference from the standard bush. I have been trying to improve a notchy change and the sadly the new bush hasnt solved it. But whats bugging me is why there is no vibrations. From what ive read even the red diesel ones need a few hundred miles to bed in. So the question is have I done something right or something wrong?

you need to replace the gearbox top mount also....you have movement there

open the bonnet and put someone to rev the engine, you'll see movement in that mount

I have the red powerflex bush and from standard is a big improvement

In what way has it improved? Mine just feels the same.

How bad was your old mount - condition wise?

I've not tried a standard dog bone bush before, but I'm currently using a Superpro and there is only a very small amount of vibration at idle. I have some Vibra-Technics ones to try soon, which comes with a set of shims so that you can dial in the amount of preload and, hence, vibration that is transmitted into the cabin.

Considering they'd done 120k they looked very good. No marks or ripped rubber. The car did have a very slight knock once in a while getting back on the throttle and that has gone.

It is possible as the original was sound and just going soft that you may not notice much difference. It does seem that people who fit these with a bit of care in tightening the centre bolt don't seem to get as much or no vibration than those that give the bolt some "attitude" when tightening.

Glad it went well for you, I have a similar notchyness on mine, and I am fitting a new gearlever bush when it arrives.

Yeah I've already done that. A bit more driving today suggests with the new dogbone bush plus the new assembly bush I fitted last week a tiny bit of improvement on the changes. Its not a massive difference but tbh its ok.
