Superb SE Estate Or Octavia Estate Black Edition?

Featured Replies

I am ordering my new company car and I am a little confused as what to choose.

Options are

1, Skoda Superb Estate SE 2.0  140BHP in Candy white with 10 speaker upgrade, tinted windows and auto load cover.

or

2, Skoda Octavia Estate Black Edition 2.0  150BHP in Moon white.

If I have any colour other than the basic (White) in the superb I have to drop the speaker upgrade or both the tinted windows and load cover. So as I drive the car from the inside white will be fine.

The Octavia is a faster engine 0.60 in 8.6 seconds and lower emissions at 106. The superb is 119, so the Octavia will be 28 pounds a month cheaper in Company car tax.

If anyone give me advice or help that would be great.

Thanks Paul.

What sort of annual mileage will you be spending in the car.

If anything significant then the Superb is a very nice place to be.

I have a Superb SE 140BHP now and love it. I have done just over 66200 miles in 3 years 8 months.

I just can help thinking about the slight tax saving. But am I loosing out on equipment by having the Octavia. will I get it and think oh I wish I got the superb for the next 4 years???

What are your list of priorities in a car - is it comfort, refinement, economy, space ? Having had both and doing high mileage I agree that the Superb is definitely a nicer place to be as Sparkly says. You're doing enough mileage to benefit from the step up in refinement and extra comfort with the Superb so it's not just the equipment consideration. Performance wise there might be a slight difference but everyday would you really notice it? Your tax saving is around £1k over three years, I think the Superb is certainly worth that. One thing to note in favour of the Octavia, it is a new model as opposed to the facelift Superb so it will have the latest technology

I had both the new Octavia and Superb FL on test for a week each before deciding on the Superb. Most of my driving is motorway and the Superb has refinement, comfort and space beyond that of the Octavia, but there's not much in it. As Superb170 says above the Superb is the more relaxed place to be, but newer technology isn't always better until its well sorted, just have a look on the Octavia forum and see the issues some people are having. I also prefer the curved dash of the Superb over the straight dash of the Octavia. However, the tax advantages cannot be overlooked, and that is why I chose a Superb Greenline. 0 to 60 times are largely irrevelant unless you drive like an idiot all the time, my Greenline is quite adequate in normal everyday driving. I also feel the Superb has a road presence that the Octavia just doesn't have. I also see more Octavias on the road than Superbs and I prefer to be in the Superb for that reason as well.

Drive both and see which suits you, comfort, refinement, and overall feel good factor.

Which ever one you go for you will get a great car. It will be interesting to know which one you choose and why so let us know..
