Octavia Estate Black Edition Or Superb SE Estate?

Featured Replies

I am ordering my new company car and I am a little confused as what to choose.

Options are

1, Skoda Superb Estate SE 2.0  140BHP in Candy white with 10 speaker upgrade, tinted windows and auto load cover.

or

2, Skoda Octavia Estate Black Edition 2.0  150BHP in Moon white.

If I have any colour other than the basic (White) in the superb I have to drop the speaker upgrade or both the tinted windows and load cover. So as I drive the car from the inside white will be fine.

The Octavia is a faster engine 0.60 in 8.6 seconds and lower emissions at 106. The superb is 119, so the Octavia will be 28 pounds a month cheaper in Company car tax.

If anyone give me advice or help that would be great.

Thanks Paul.

Would check you can get on with the seating position in the Octy; had mine for only 6 months but have now sadly sold it, as it was becoming ever increasingly uncomfortable, which I put down mainly to the right side offset of the foot pedal 'box'.

We have a Mk 3 Octavia vrs and a Superb Greenline 3 combi in the rubble fleet, the Octavia is nice and has a lot of good tech, is well screwed together and a nice drive ( when I'm allowed). The superb is in my opinion better specked inside the Octavia in my opinion is a little plasticky on the inside. The superb is like a big Octavia 2, the tech is a little dated but it works and the car drives well. It's all the little things on the superb the add up, sill protectors on all doors, footwell lighting in the front and acres of space, that said the Octavia is also a good car.

Superb is probably a bit more 'prestige' than the Octy, if passenger space is a big thing for you, the Superb is probably the way to go.

Superb ride quality should be much better as well.

Octavia Black Edition any day. Superb is quiet dated now. New superb is expected next year so in my honest opinion, Octavia.

I currently drive a Volvo S80, my next car I decided was a Superb Elegance so I took one for good long test drive. My Volvo is a quality build and on long motorway drives is simply perfect, I get out after a 3 hour drive with no issues, I was hoping for the same ride comfort in the Superb. Not to be, my Volvo around town and B roads is like a cork on the sea, the Superb was even worse. After a good drive I took it back to the dealer feeling rather sea sick, not a pleasant drive IMO. Too bouncy around town and A & B roads.

After talking to the dealer I then took out an Octy and it felt far more accomplished on all roads. I booked a 2ltr TDI Octy saloon for a week with Skoda demonstrators and I have to say I was impressed. The ride is far better, confident in corners, great on the motorway and around town / A roads a little harsher ride but very confident.

Yes, it doesn't have the same "arm chair" seating as my Volvo, and some of the fittings are not up to Volvo standards. Having said that, it's Passat / Audi A4 / Golf Mk7 quality minus 10%, good enough for me to order a 2ltr TDI Elegance with a few extra toys. ( Black metalic, Winter Pack, Leather Seats, Columbus, Canton, Park Assist (cos I had 400 quid spare and was in a rush to order) and 19' Golus Alloys).

Looking forward to my new company car in September

I had a similar choice but I was either getting a Superb L&K 140 or Octavia VRS. Whilst the superb was nice, I didn't need all that boot and I wanted to try and cling onto my youth. Opted for the vRS estate and after 1000 miles I love it. Spec'd tints, armundsen nav and tow bar

Id say Octavia, the new 150 engine is a considerable improvement on the older CR 140, also the Octavia is a damn sight lighter.....translates into a car with alot of go for what it is.

The Superb is more spacious, probably a little better in terms of perceived quality but its getting on a bit so the tech is very last gen.

I've had two superb estates and you can't beat them for space, the interior as said is slightly nicer finished but the electronic spec and toys isn't the same as the Octavia. Just picked up my VRS iii and the cabin actually feels a bit more spacious for driver leg room.

Drive them both, it's all personal presence.
