control system for exhaust and fans running

Featured Replies

Can anyone help my control system for exhaust light came on and the fans seem to be running all the time the engine is, only had the car 7 days there is no loss of power and drives like it has done for the past 7 days, any tips or ideas

Sounds like the common failure related to one of the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) sensors.

Stick 'G450' into the search bar for lots of bedtime reading, as mentioned it's a common fault, especially on early FL vRS's such as yours.

When the sensor fails it messes with the cars ability to regenerate the DPF. During a normal DPF regen the fans will run if the regen is interupted (in an effort to cool down the DPF and exhaust system).

Time to get the fault code read ASAP. The longer you leave it with the DPF out of action the more likely you are to run into DPF problems which (trust me I've been there) is well worth avoiding!
