Hi guys... thought I would come say hi I have had my black fabia vrs mk1 a year now and going to send it too darkside to have a play.. I also have a AUDI RS3 in black the fabia Is just my daily driver to work and running about but I enjoy it I was going to sell but decided I'll keep it a little longer.. I'm a transmission engineer in leeds so any gearbox questions you have I could help =) anyway won't rattle on... I'm jonnie by the way...

I did own a wr1 subaru

As mentioned above, have a look on the Meets section, looks likely next will be Sat 23rd Aug at The Old Post Office PH just south of Jn38 M1, and adjourns for food to the Wetherby Whaler hard by DMKeith Skoda at Calder Island just off A636 Denby Dale Rd. 

I haven't been able to make one yet as almost always working at weekends.

 

Had my Roomster over to Darkside recently for a little of their TLC and magic, they know their VAG diesels stuff!

I'm over at Bottom Boat near Jn 30 M62.

I'm booked in at dark side for one of the gbt conversions 1756v I think.. I was wondering is it worth the money ? I mean I know I have a 410 bop rs3 n all but want some more life out of fabia what you think.. Wast or wise choose .. Thanks again local friend...

Not had it done long, and remapped with economy as the goal, the Variable Nozzle Turbo engines don't have any noticeable sudden thrust as did my 3-cyl Tdi PD Fabia once that was re-mapped (by RS Tuning in Leeds, as I hadn't heard of Darkside back then), the 1.4tdi is a trad wastegated turbo, so that did chug-chug-chug WHOOOOOA! But it does feel livelier.

 

The economy appears to be coming good, BTW they recommended I replace the aftermarket Green Cotton panel air filter with a standard paper-element one as they say the oil from the cotton contaminates the MAF wire sensor; in fact I'll be cleaning the wire tomorrow using an aerosol product that was recommended on here, it arrived today; this should smooth things when poddling along at 30 in 5th on the flat, as it's got so rough over the last year that I have to drop into 4th; my work Peugeot van can do it at idle, and pull away cleanly. Darkside did say the Roomster 105bhp engine has fewer injector holes than say your 130bhp vRS Fab, and that they don't like this low-revs treatment!  We'll see.

 

As to your question re VFM, I feel re-mapping is something to do as an investment if you're planning to keep the car for several years, hope this helps.

Hooe you get it sorted tomorrow it will just need cleaning then will be good as new I would of thought. . Yes well I'm going to take it to the nurburgring next year I have an annual trip with some friends.. and noooo to taking the rs3 I would die on the spot if anything happened to that =( so my thought was buy a turbo kit from darkside and get them to fit it drive in drive out job... hopefully 220 ish bhp and loads of torque... going to get some big brakes possibly k sport 6 pots and my friend works at leeds audi as a painter so will get hin to fix the blemishes on her then she will be better than new
