Selling Mother's car (Mini) - but can't find any info!

Featured Replies

Guys,

I'm going to be selling my Mother's car when she ships off to Spain for 3 months.

Issue is I can't find any others to gauge it against...

Hoping one of you lovely people knows something about BMW Mini's and where I can find information!

It's a Mini 7, 2005 reg. So far the only thing I've managed to find is a thread on detailing world where a lot of time and effort was put in to make one look shiny!

Any info/advice/guidance welcome!

Try

http://autotrader.co.uk

See what others are asking for them, that will give you an idea of the Highest Asking Prices.

Try

http://webuyanycar.com

That is the very lowest you are likely to get for it.

Maybe go into some local Independent Car Dealers and see if they are interested in buying for Cash, not selling on your behalf.

Then from there it is a case of Advertising and seeing what comes your way, time waster, advertisers etc.

Maybe someone actually interested in buying.

I'd probably guess at about £3.5k - £4k ish

Based on:

2005

Mini Seven 1.6 Manual

Average mileage

But tbh it is only as much as somebody is willing to pay for it.

Tried autotrader, nothing the same... Webuyanycar offered my dad £1500 for it. Funnily enough he told them to go jump.

That's the sort of price I was guessing at - ignoring the mileage though as it's bonkers low (38000) which I think might even put people off...

I've never been sure on these Mini "limited editions" because there's so many different ones varying wildly in desirability...

It's 2005, is it a late R55 or an Early R57?

If an R55, they're not worth much unless you find the right buyer due to some issues around gearboxes and other bits.

If you find a suitable youth who wants a mini above all else though, you can do pretty well.

Is that engine code? I haven't seen the V5 yet so don't know...

Unfortunately the early ones were prone to catching fire, & BMW denied that there was an issue despite quite a few pictures appearing in the news papers, & Watchdog on TV even took up the complaints, but BMW still had the blinkers & blindfold on denying any issue & it was the owners fault.

All i will say is Good Luck selling it.

P.S. Does she know you are selling her car when she goes away ?    :notme:  :D

Try parkers.co.uk for valuations, they're not always spot on, but it'll give you a guide.

I'm not sure what a 7 spec is, but if it's a special edition I'd value it at about the same as a non-special edition one with similar spec, unless it's a specifically sought after limited edition or something.

I had Mini One Seven Special Edition on a 56 Plate from new in September 2006, it was Astro Black Metallic in colour, but was really specced up.

Nice cars, I had it 4 years without any issues they are all on the R50 (Hatchback) platform (as opposed to the R53 which is the Cooper S), the R56 was the Generation 2 BMW Mini and the F56 is the Generation 3 BMW Mini,

Not sure what your Mum's would be worth tbh as I've been out of the Mini scene for a while, however as a guide look for a mini one with a Chilli Pack fitted for value.
