I'm new with a vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm new, I bought an 08 octavia vrs tfsi at the weekend. It has 62500 miles on it and is in very goodcondition.

Right so straight to the important stuff what do I need to uprate/modify?

Def needs lowering a bit. Coilys or decent shocks andsprings?

Cheers

Steve

welcome to the forum, im relatively new myself, but they are a good bunch on here - no squabbling like you tend to find on all forums these days....

what you have asked has been covered many times - do a search and a plethora of answers will pop up.

most people get a rear anti roll bar which tightens the steering up a lot and transforms the handling. there are anti lift kits available which help get the power down and reduce wheel hop, with regards to lowering, it all depends what you intend to use the car for? if you want to track it then maybe coilovers are what you need however if its a daily driver, they may be too harsh for our pot holed roads so maybe think about going down the shocks and springs route if thats the case.

in terms of power upgrades - exhaust wont get you much other than noise however a large bore down pipe gets rid of a restriction in the system. some people use open cone induction kits, however there are mixed feelings regarding how well the car drives after fitting one ( i guess some of it comes down to price?) the most obvious upgrade would be a remap - loads of well known companies will supply stage 1 and up software which apparently transforms the car.

where are you based steve?

there is a forge action day at castle combe on sept 13th and briskoda have a stand there i believe - a good opportunity to have a chat with people who have a bit more knowledge than me lol

thanks ben....... I've seen that username on a forum somewhere before lol.

I don't know about tracking it, it will be my daily driver. But i do live next to goodwood lol, so chance are it will find itself on a track at some point but nothing serious I have a mini for that.

thanks for the advice, I may go for the remap at some point. But improving the handling is my main concern, even though this is my family car lol. I am used to hot hatches, this is a bit big for me.

yeah likewise - ive had mine a year - still completely standard at the moment. ive got used to the size now (coming from an aygo) but have to admit i have slowly backed in to a couple of things in the past! :-/.

interested where you have seen my screen name before? the forums ive used/still use are - forzamotorsport.net, zsoc.com, seatcupra.net? any of them maybe? im not a prolific poster but its an unusual name all the same.

love the festival of speed - only been once as its a bit of a trek from somerset but ive got the wife in to cars now so the intention is to go again.

Also check when your Cambelt was last changed as It's worth changing if it's more than 4 years or 80k.

As for mods the b12 kit is very good for improving your handling and quite popular with vrs owners.
