Slight problem

Featured Replies

Just replaced engine in my fabia asz while i had the engine out I replaced the turbo but with a Blt one so I put a blanking plate on the manifold and one on the egr I have not had it mapped out yet so the engine management light has come on I asked on here what to do with the two pipes and was told to leave them connected the car did 40miles this morning faultless bit when I finished work got in the car took it to be cleaned on setting off from the car wash the car cut out turned the key it started with a bit of a struggle drove for about 200yards cut out so pulled in tyres starting the car it really struggled to start so I decided to take the pipe of the back of the egr the car started and ran fine the engine management even went off. One back on an the car now runs fine only thing is sounds a it rough when you turn it off do I leave that pipe disconnected any help much appreciated. Only just got the car back on the road last night thanks ash

?

The vacuum line (pipes) that goes to the actuator on the back of the egr is the anti shudder valve. As far as I know it won't cause damage in you take it off but it will make the engine shudder when you turn it off. So I'd leave that one on

With regards to the cutting out (as I think this is a separate problem but could be wrong) it may be down to the timing, if you or anyone you know has access to vcds you need to look at engine, then group 4 iirc. The value once warmed up should be between 3 and -3 but as close to 0 as possible. Mine needed adjusting after I swapped my engine too, that would be my first thing to check

Hope this helps

Thanks an I've tried everyone on map near me so pretty screwed ATM

You could always just order yourself a cheap cable and download vcds lite from rosstech then you could do it yourself. The software is pretty straightforward tbh

Did you deffo put the correct vacuum pipe on, didn't mix them up? :)

As I would think if you had the egr one onto the shudder valve this could have caused your stalling, as the anti shudder valve operates a butterfly which closes off across the inlet manifold.

Second for vcds, you might not be able to clear the code but it will tell you what the issue is. You could always take it to darkside developments in Barnsley. Sure they would tell you what the issue is. Seemed like a decent set of lads when I went down there to collect an egr delete.

I marked them up with tape but maybe I could have mixed them up but can't understand why ot ran fine for 40 mile with both still connected then stalled at junction started just set off again an stalled 100yards up road pulled in lifted bonnet up car struggled to start took the pipe off the top of the egr and it cut out so put that back on and took one off the as the car has an fine just engine management on think am going to have to get a cable

Yes I went to darkside the other weekend to pick some gaskets up and an braised oil feed but there very pricey and it's time as I work a lot

I have not had any quotes for work as I don't have a fabia yet but I guess you pay for what you get. Pay cheap pay twice mate.
