AlloyGators? Anyone got/had them? Any good?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying some before letting her drive the car, has anyone had any experience of these and if so are they any good?

Experience on here has been mixed, seems that sometimes they can upset the beading seal in the tyres resulting in gradual air loss around the rim. Also they seem to need regular adjustments to stop them popping out completely. The other thing is once they are damaged they'll look just as unsightly as the damaged wheel.

I'd just make sure you have tyres with rim protectors as these do exactly the same thing but without the drawbacks.

`Tyres with rim protectors`...didn't know there was such a thing. Are they different from `normal` tyres then?

They're just normal tyres which have a bit of a lip that stands proud of the rim of the wheel and offers very little protection to the wheel as it's only soft rubber and is soon pushed to one side against a concrete curb.

Thanks, Neily.
