MK2 Fabia - is it a magnet for stones?

Featured Replies

Every time I was wash my car I notice more stone chips on the front end of my VRS. I purposely keep my distance to the car in front but still the chips appear!

Has anybody else noticed that their Fabia chips it's paint easily? Especially the front bumper?

Mine gets peppered in them too and had to spend some time with the chip stick and a cocktail stick last time I gave it a detail

The bonnet is the largest magnet, second comes the front bumper and third the rest of the car.

I've had a couple of small marks on the front spoiler and on the area above the DRL's, but to be honest I'm quite impressed with the hardness of the paint. My old Focus certainly didn't take as much punishment without being chipped right down to the metal on the body.

The advantage IMO of the Solid White & Red where you just touch in with some paint on a cocktailstick or pin and polish over.

(Meteor Grey solid is not so easy as you need a good mixed paint, but then the Meteor Grey seems quite good quality and less stone rash prone.)

Hi mate, if you are bothered about stone chips give Invisible Patterns a ring and speak to Craig, Russell or Lydnsey and get a 3m kit for your car.

I have purchased many kits for different cars, they are kits cut particularly for you car and when fitted you can`t see them and it protects your car from stone chips.

I`m just about to fit my kit on my new VRS.

In my kit I have the full front bumper, headlights, spotlights, bonnet (leading edge) , wing ends and top of rear bumper which helps prevent scratching your bumper when loading and unloading your boot.

This stuff is amazing and once fitted stone chips have no chance.

Invisible Patterns are based in Warrington near Manchester and have a great premises where you can visit them and have your kit fitted. :D  :D

Yeah it shows up real well on my blue one aswell. Weirdly only at the sides of the bumper. Got a beast on my roof aswell, you can see the blue showing through the white roof! Sucks. Need to get the chip kit out.

Get a 3m ventureshield kit from Invisible Patterns, have it fitted, No more Touch Ups!!!!

I have noticed the stone chips on my black vrs. Bonnet quite bad so decided im getting it carbon wrapped to prevent anymore.

mines 6 months old ive got quite a few. waiting for a hot day to get the toothpick touch up paint and polish

I've got a few, and picked up 1 on the NSF Door courtesy of the rubbish roads in Belgium, will probably need to get that one done. Be really careful if you buy a Black Magic Pearl touch in from the dealer as I was given the older version by a dealer my MY14 Monte Carlo is Paint Code LF9R-1Z1Z.

Mines covered in them, very annoying. I would say the Octavia (Mk1) got them worse as well!

You could sand blast the bonnet of a Fabia and show less paint than driving it for a year.

I'm glad mine's not the only one! I think I need to tackle the front bumper soon, it's starting to look peppered with stone chips and a little tired. Any suggestions/recommendations on techniques to improve it?

Yep, mine's got a ton and they seem to show up very easily on a black car. Also got a couple of very annoying ones on the rear 1/4s. How they got there I don't know.

Guys, as I keep saying, if you hate stone chips then get the Ventureshield kit fitted by Invisible Patterns who are based in Warrington. This is clear see through material which once fitted you can hardly see on your car will stop stones from damaging your paint.

They have laser cut patterns for the whole front bumper, the bonnet, wing ends, headlights, spotlights, back of door mirrors and the top edge of your rear bumper. In fact they can pretty much do anything.

This material is amazing and I have had it fitted to almost all my cars I have owned.

I am currently fitting the kit on my 2014 Fabia VRS.

Once its done I can just relax knowing my car is well protected from those evil stones.

If anyone needs any contact details for the guys at Invisible Patterns just let me know!!

My vRS looks like it suffers from bad case of chickenpox!

To be honest I do not care, I just drive it :)
