Diesel Drop links?

Featured Replies

Afternoon, post service, my front ARB bushes and drop links were listed as an advisory.

So, i can change these myself, as its ridiculously straight forward.

But - ones on the car seem to be the plastic type drop links,

and when i search for new ones, theres several that come back as matches for my 90bhp variant,

some plastic, some metal, and a few different sizes?

Am i alone though, not feeling overly enthusiastic about having a fairly important piece of my steering end suspension system made out of plastic?

any opinions out there? also advice on a good brand to go for with both the bushes and links?

cheers guys :)

they are all the same,I had plastic and replace them with steel, now they have to be done again

Lemfoerder,Swag are the brands you want to go

Cheers, I'll get proper pricing in the next couple of days

I had plastic ones and they snapped, went to metal and they were fine. I think mine were slightly loose which put too much force through them. Don't know if metal ones would do the same.

Bumping me own thread...

I've decided on the Lemforder links.

so... Bushes. Gimme a brand that lasts!

Yesterday I fitted Lemforder arb bushes.....they are made in Taiwan :))

They look good,car feels good....they costs under 6 pounds/pair...so i don;t care

I think the OEM are the best ,more expensive but woth.I had OEM before for 3.5 years and still in a good shape, but I replaced them because I was bored really.nothing to do on a saturday afternoon.

My hint:use good grease like lithium, silicone or cooper grease wich are not washable in time....is very important.I used cooper grease

mmm... I saw some SWAG bushes for about a quid each... seemed a bit too cheap :wonder:  kinda thing you'd fit when desperate...

Must measure me ARB anyway before i pick - theres at least 2 sizes show up for my car, even when searched by reg number...

give me the VIN number and I;ll tell you exactly.....if you want of course

Febi Bilstein comments / experiences for links and/or bushes. I can get them half the price of lemforders,

but if they be crap ill spend the extra!

FYI Febi ,Swag and Blue Print are made in the same factory

In my oppinion Lemforder doesn't worth twice the price considering they are so easy to replace

that was my thing - if lemforder are double the money but double the quality / longevity great.

but if theres only like a 10% improvement for double the money - that aint worth it.

febi it is!!

Right!!!!

Just spent 20 mins trying to get the fother mucking drop link off on drivers side.

Got the top end off the ARB but the wishbone end feels like its actually been welded!!!

I jacked up and lowered the corner of the wishbone back onto some blocks to give me space etc,  after getting the wheel off,

and had bought and applied 2 good doses of Holts release spray to as much as i could see with the wheel on earlier in the day.

Gave it another coat and few mins to works through, still no budge!

I had to give up - having burnt me arm on the shaggin brake disc twice - and tied the top end back in.

Couldnt bring myself to even try the other side.

only time i thought i was starting to get it i realised the bolt head looked like it was starting to round, rather than move,

and then i really think my spanner started to flex a little bit.

Any body got any ideas? Did i just spend 6 quid on a can of crap???
