Respray / re-vinyl

Featured Replies

So, today i decided id ring my local skoda dealership and get a quote to revinyl my B-pillars as the old stuff started flaking off and i removed it. Anyway... im guessing they either didnt want the work or there's something seriously wrong when they came back to me with £538 to do all 4 doors  :dull:  ... i swiftly replied 'thanks for your time' and put the phone down.

More to the point i then popped in my local paintshop, explained the situation to which they said they could re-wrap, but a sprayjob would last longer / look better, and somehow i also managed discussing getting my roof / mirror caps + upper grille resprayed at the same time, gotta ring back next monday for a proper quote as boss is away, but the guy i spoke to sounded suprised i got quoted so much by skoda.

Am i the only one who has found skoda dealerships to be reluctant to be involved in anything other than selling you a brand new car, i had even looked at a used car at the same dealership before and they werent even slightly interested in trying to sell the car to me??

Sure they didn't quote for new doors too?!!! That's ridiculous! Good luck with the other place :-)

Aye my thoughts exactly, think they just didnt want the work lol. either way i think im gonna go ahead with getting the before mentioned sprayed instead, and then cruise on to getting my pocket rocket remapped :))

My front passenger B pillar vinyl was starting to peal off so I went to the dealer (this was 1 week after the warranty ran out that I noticed it) and they said that they had never seen this problem before and I would be best off touching it up with a bit of paint. So when I booked it in for a service at VASStech I asked them to price it up for me. Just less than £5 for the Vinyl and then half an hours labor.

Do they just pop off?

Sticky Back Vinyl like Fablon but more sticky.

(There was a recent thread where someone had them peeled off on a red car, but has issues with the seals.)

You just buy the new B Pillar Foils and stick them on.  & where the old glue is already removed that is not difficult.

& as for Painting, just Mask up, prepare the Painted Body work and use Plastikote or the likes.

It is hardly a job requiring a Body Shop or a Car Sprayer.

I believe that was me in the thread you mentioned lol, I took the two front vinyl pieces off because they were flaking off. I then had issues reseating the door seals, I had bad memories of attempting to wrap my mirror caps before hence not wanting to try do it myself, I sprayed the mirror caps in the end but it doesn't look great as me skill with an aerosol can lacks somewhat :(.

I figured since I'm gonna get the roof resprayed I'd get the pillars done at the same time.
