Alloy wheel cleaner

Featured Replies

Advice please or at least reassurance I have the standard 18" anthracite alloys on my VRS and will also be cleaning for a friend a golf gtd, both cars (the golf more so) have parts of the alloy that are polished metal and I've heard recently about alloy cleaners causing marks or worse to this type of wheel.

I'm currently using bilberry alloy cleaner is this ok or should I be looking at using something else?

That should be OK.  I get Autosmart "Smart Wheels" from my local rep, which is a good non acidic cleaner.

You should be absolutely fine with Bilberry.

The ones to avoid are either acid or alanine based which will eat away at your wheels. The Bilberry cleaner you have should be ph neutral, at least the one I use above is which you dilute 1:9 with water. Top stuff IMO.

That's the stuff!

Thanks for all then advice and reassurance from everyone didn't want to cause problems by using the wrong thing especially with someone else's alloys as well.

I had to actually dig around in the garage last night to confirm; but this the stuff i have and used regularly - same 5L purchase from CYC.

Seriously though - one deep clean and Iron-X at the start of the summer then Sonax BSD after every wash - i just dont need the Bilberry cleaner these days.
