Under acceleration, I have slight power loss sometimes. Anyone close to worthing that could have a look?

Today i had a scare, pulled away from a junction and it just died and came bqck then died no power then wqs fibe for the 140mile journey no eml at all lol

Boost leak?

Mine isn't as bad as that. It doesn't die die. Just power goes and if I accelerate through it, then I pick the power up again. It feels like a boost leak but I'm not convinced. Does your car idle ok?

Is this through hard acceleration ? If so do you have the traction control turned on ?

No, normal, light, hard... Any acceleration. On or off TC

With the age of these cars now it could be a number of things,if it still has the original breathers you may have a split I would replace these for piece of mind and if remapping its worth replacing them as well as its a common fail ,creation motorsport do the set of three hoses and are a cheap,

 

The other thing could be the throttle body it  may need cleaning this is a common fault that can cause poor throttle response and is a cheap fix . 

 

Next I would inspect the boost hoses they may have a split or the rear lower boost from pancake pipe up  can have a seal fail this usually gives poor running,its worth upgrading the boost hoses especialy if going down the remap route then you know its done.

 

I would test the diverter valve as well if its original it may be leaking boost,  

 

These four things can cure a whole load of faults and running problems from this engine ive done all four on the last four 1.8ts ive owned .

Are the coils also sound?

I get a pause in 3rd sometimes when going hard from 2nd to 3rd, its like it thinks about it for half a second and then gives full boost. Might be an early sign of the same thing going on so i'll be watching this for any outcome.
