Skoda Rapid 135 - not happy

Featured Replies

Hi,

One good thing about this wet bank holiday is that I have got to the bottom of my recently acquired Skoda Rapids engine problem.

Somehow one of the inlet valves alloy pushrods has got bent and has damaged the tappet as well.

Fingers crossed, hopefully, the corresponding valve is OK, seems to open and close alright and sits at the same height in the head as the other inlet valves.

Has anyone any idea as to where I can find a replacement pushrod and tappet?

Any input most welcome.

Thanks for looking

Well no joy from the forum, never mind, there will be other times as work continues on the Rapid over the next few months.

Just to say I found an 1.3 MPI Felicia that was being broken for parts about 15 miles away and I was able to get the push rods,

4 x Tappets [ the other 4 just would not come out ] and the rocker shaft etc.

In case any one has a similar problem, the tappets appear to be the same but the push rods are a couple mm shorter, the alloy push rods are also slightly thicker [ heavier duty, so they dont bend so easily  perhaps ] -

a quick trial fit of the one I needed would suggest that even with the slightly shorter alloy push rod, the valve clearance adjustment is still easily in range.

so hopefully this job is now as good as done..... on to the brakes next
