CCU upgrade for remote central locking

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I have a 2006 Octavia Classic (1.9) which was the model with no remote central locking. I have done some of my own work to the car, including a cruise control and steering controller upgrade which went well and I also have a VCDS unit from RossTech for the coding etc.

For my next project, I want to upgrade the car to OEM remote centrol locking by replacing the non-remote CCU in my car with a remote capable one. I have already tracked down and purchased a second hand (from a Seat Leon) 1K0 959 433 AK to replace the 1K0 959 433 AH in my car.

I have also purchased a blank 1K0 959 753 G 434 MHZ OEM key which I believe is compatible with the CCU.

I assumed I would be able to do all the work and figure out the coding etc with the VCDS but as I have googled harder, it doesn't look that straightforward. It seems I may need a immo PIN for my car and ALSO might need the immo PIN from the donor Seat Leon to make this work.

I was also thinking I could just remove the immo chip from one of my current non-remote keys and transfer it to the new remote key to get round immo issues but will this still not work unless I had the immo PIN of the old Leon?

Can someone tell me if that is the case? Am I going to be screwed once I start this work, unless I go to the local main dealer and pay out for coding?

Really hope someone can put me on the right track before I start the work and end up stranded with no keys working! :)

Eddie - Thanks for such a prompt reply! thats great news! I didn't fancy going over the barrel of my main dealer to get pin codes etc as I am sure they would charge handsomely for it.

I take it I can use VCDS to copy over the coding from my current CCU (01D002003F098505095B010004CC) and just change the parts that refer to remote central locking? The fact that its a second hand CCU wont affect things?

Also, am I right in thinking the CCU has the remote control receiver built into it, i.e. I don't need any more parts for the job apart from the CCU and compatible remote?

Rather than copying over the coding just use the long coding helper to set-up the controller as you need.

The new controller will have more bytes so if you copy the old coding you won't have enough numbers there which may affect it's function.

As phil said don't copy it as it can vary between modules

take screen shots of each byte then look for the same thing in the new one

The receiver is built in

but if the range is not good you can add a bit of wire (which is how it is from the factory)

Fitted the new CCU just now and was able to code the new key in just fine. I transferred over the immo chip from my spare key so no issues there.

Range isnt wonderful, i need to be standing at the car for the remote to work. There was mention of a wire I could add to improve reception. Just wondering, how do I go about doing this? Is there a particular part number etc?

Cheers Eddie, fitted a length of mini coax cable and ran it round behind the door rubber.

Worked perfectly, range is much much better!

Thanks for all the help getting this done, great to have remote locking sorted with original parts, despite the local main dealer insisting it was impossible without using a 3rd party aftermarket kit.
