Vrs gearbox oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi, had a search but came up with nothing.

Ive got a leak on my gearbox ( i think) not massive but annoying all the same. I checked the fill point and sump plug both look ok.

I checked the Detent which is dry.

I also checked the hole which goes on into the bell housing its dry too.

It looks like the oil is coming from higher up, breather possibly?

Where is the breather located? What do i remove to get to it?

Cheers, Andy

Looks like the leak is from this bearing ( big circle ) ( mines still has cap on it ) can this be tightened at all?

Struggling to picture what goes over that?

If it's just a interference fit perhaps you can pop it off and reseal it?

It looks like a black plastic cap that goes over it, ill look for a picture.

That cap can be pulled off and new one fitted. They are covered in like a paint/sealant which seals it. Quite cheap I think too

really?? Anyone have a part number?

Sorry not got a part number. But it's the only bung there on that part ofthe box so a part company will find it easy

Cheers bud, ill have a look for one :)

thats ok mate, i actually had a a3 come in to work a few months back with that bung missing from his box, which was game over for that box as it threw all the oil out and the bearings behind it too
