Removing mesh from MAF pipe?

Featured Replies

Just wondering. Someone told me they did this to a different PD130 and it made a lot of difference. Basically it involves taking the bit of pipe that's "shoved" into the airbox hole..... sounds :naughty: :D and removing the mesh from the end of that bit of pipe.

I guess this will have the effect to allow a small %% of extra air through. I noticed (as I have been dealing with Fabia "bits" lately ;)) that the pipe is made up of two bits - One bit in the middle has chunkier mesh, and the MAF sits in there. Now I'd be worried about altering the airflow running straight past the sensor.

However, around the MAF pipe there is more thinner plastic mesh, that bypasses the MAF. Would it be OK to remove this plastic mesh? Have I just been given an insight into another possible pikey mod?

If any techies think this (in theory) would be good I'll do a "how to" next weekend, with piccies and a guide.

The venturi's and mesh are there for a reason. They make sure the air passing past the MAF sensor is straight so the sensor can get a reading. Turbulant air will not pass into the sensor and it wont run properly.

 Thats a "NO!" then. Consider it untouched.

That was nice & easy. :D
