Issues with single mass conversion.

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Ok recently bought a stage 1 organic clutch kit and single mass conversion from CG Motorsport. At the time of my order the CG rep told me that they didn't stock slave cylinders anymore; and to buy my own. As instructed bought one (Sachs) using my reg details from Euro Car Parts. My mechanic has just phoned to say that when he pressed the clutch down after install it just dropped to the floor? He is asking whether I need a specific slave cylinder? Any help will be greatly appreciated! :)

He needs to bleed it better :D

What does that mean bud as I want to know for myself...

On top of the gearbox there is the clutch pipe that connects to the release bearing and there is a 10 or 11 mm nipple on top that needs to be blead. Use an eezibleed kit on the brake reservoir then bleed it. Hope hes not got air in the master cylinder or reversed the seals.

Has he bled it at all? Doesn't sound like he has.

I wouldn't know? I will ask him...

Pretty sure he will of bled it lol

Ok so my mechanic has bought another slave cylinder and fitted all back together (adamant he has bled it properly etc). Just phoned to say he daren't push the clutch pedal right in as he feels it's gonna go again? I bought a single mass flywheel, organic stage 1 clutch kit from cg Motorsport. They are being very cooperative and say they will help fix this issue when my mech phones them Tomoz. He thinks the single mass flywheel is too thin and when the clutch is engaged is pushing the cylinder out? Any ideas guys?

I'm driving an 06 fabia mk 1 vrs.

What happened to the first new cylinder that was fitted?

He fitted it but when he pushed the clutch in it popped out so was rendered useless. Had to buy another. He thinks the distance is too far for the cylinder to travel once fitted to the single mass(as once the clutch is fitted it has a smaller width overall than a dual mass kit)? Does anyone know of anyone who has had similar problems whilst converting from dual mass?

Sounds like the clutch kit is the wrong one for the car ?

the only problem with buying different parts from different places. especially with uprated bits. too many different fingers to blame :(

can he not measure old and ne clutch/flywheels to see for sure any difference in size

Well the conclusion was.... Yes you guessed it! The wrong size parts! Ended up sending it back and settling for a valeo single conversion. Hopefully it will hold a stage 1?

How come you didn't get a correct one from them?  or did you get the valeo off the shelf?

glad you sorted tho. Id of thought it would be fine on stage 1.
