Petrol in the plug sockets?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

New challenge for you fabia sleuths! My 1.4 16v DOHC AUB engine has developed a small puddle of petrol in the spark plug socket (the one on the far drivers side, under the oil filler cap). The fluid is causing strange electrical things to happen but the engine seems to run fine. The plug is brand new and the other three have no problems.

I recently.discovered the puddle, cleaned it up, replaced the plug and after 30 miles or so theres a bit more fluid beginning to show.

question - where is it.coming from?? Is it possible the thread is damaged and some fuel is leaking out under compression? If so what can I do about it?

Thanks!!

Tim

whens the last time you out new sparkplugs in ? sounds like your copper washer is goosed on spark plug. have a little inspection of it. you would feel if the thread was knackered on it.

easiest way to find out where ita coming from is to look and watch it

thanks a lot for your reply! Spark plugs were brand new but have replaced the offender again in case I tightened it too tight and damaged the washer.

I've also cleaned thoroughly all around the area so i can see if it's leaking in from the top anywhere.

time will tell - thanks for your help!
