Recommend Pads For DA Please....

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm in the market for some new pads for the DA and would really appreciate recommendations based on your experiences. I have a DAS6- Pro machine, and have recently been using Sonus SFX-1 pads to good effect. I'm after heavy cutting pads, medium cutting pads and a couple of polishing/finishing pads.

In the past I've had a number of pads disintegrate on me, with the adhesive between the pad and Velcro backing apparently melting and the pad launching itself from the polisher. This has proved painful (took one in the face) and more worryingly risked the finish on the paintwork! Now, I think this is because of incorrect selection of pads and the backing plate transferring a lot of heat into the pad. I've discussed techniques with some detailing guru friends of mine and the chaps at CYC and I'm confident what I am doing is not the issue.

Since replacing the backing plate and using the Sonus pads I've had no problems.

So, please recommend pads for me- links appreciated. I'm sure I read that someone had made a bulk purchase on here, so if that is the case feel free to PM me and I'll gladly buy some if they're good quality.

Thanks in advance folks.

I use Chem Guys Hexalogic pads

I find that they wear well with the harder polishing and compounding pads, but less well with a finishing pad on the DA

I also like 3M Pads..They are hard wearing too

At the end of the day...its what works for you

Others will come on here and recommend other pads

If you use the DA a lot, then buy a range of pads and try them

Good luck

Yeah I'd say same as chris really. I do use chem guys hex logic. But I have also bought some waffle pads from China and found these to be great, and at the price it doesn't matter if they don't last 2 long.

Like Chris said try out plenty see what works for you.

Okay guys thank you. Any place in particular do deals on these?

Mr personal preference is lake country Hydrotech from cleanyourcar. Think Ste on here does some pads, but I've not used them although they look good.

Thanks Bob - i appreciate the mention.

I do buy a few pad types direct from China to share out amongst my detailing mates.

So far, so good - personally i use them with no issues and no complaints on quality.

But then again my cars are all in really good condition and mostly light polish/glaze work.

All pads mentioned are very good in previous posts.... you wont go wrong from that selection.

Just starting to look at the MF range of pads as well going forward.

Thanks for the freebies from yourself too ste, and thank you for keeping hold of the pads I ordered so long ago.

Hope the wax lives up to the hype I've given you.

Use it with the DA though it goes on like a dream and buffs to a great shine imo.

Cheers Carl - always a pleasure buddy!

Good to catch up and have a chat :)
