Uprated dogbone Mount - A Little Tip

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Some probably already know of this however I still read forum topics about vibrations. I had one fitted recently and at stock idle speed the glass was almost shaken out of the wing mirrors lol.

Vibrations can be helped with upping the idle RPMs with vcds.

1. Click on "Select"

2. Next, on "01 - Engine"

3. Then "Adaptation"

4. Under "Channel Number," scroll to Group 02.

5. Current Idle Speed will be displayed in the upper left-hand corner.

6. Under Channel Number, is a block with 5 digits in it, representing a numeric value of ECU code.

7. Enter your new desired value in place of the existing number or use the up and down arrows to change the existing digits.

8. Minimum value accepted is 32743, which equates to 882 RPM's.

9. Maximum value is 32803 which equals 945 RPM's.

10. Once a new value is entered, click on "Test" to see how this changes the Idle Speed.

11. Finally, don't forget to "Save" the new configuration before "Exiting."

If you want to almost cure the vibrations you can up the RPMs even further but will require mapping in by your chosen tuner. Around 1000 - 1100 seems to be the sweet spot.

Also will help with flywheel chatter from dm flywheels starting to go and sm flywheels with geatbox chatter :)

Mine's set to 1100rpm for this reason.  It was done via mapping though, not VCDS. :)

Great info cheers Joel :)

Info from Dirty Torque?

Does this work for the BLT as well as the ASZ?

This is the reason I hold my foot on the accelerator slightly while stationary for a while :)

Karl can no doubt map it in "properly" mate. I got home and decided it was too extreme lol. After abit of hunting around on the web I discovered I could soften the vibrations with vcds until I can get back down there ;)

Cant see why not :)

I tried doing this on the way home lol. I couldnt get the balance right when in slow traffic so was either being shaken to death or reving the nuts off the car

Neither which looked good from the outside I suspect :peek:

I'm not to fussed mate can't be any worse than that vile rattle from the SMF!

Interesting reading guys. :)

Will save this thread for when the time comes :D

Altered mine earlier :)

Was set at 890odd rpm, dropped it to the lowest setting and vibes increased nicely.

Set it to 945rpm and its much better :)

Tried this today, but for some reason setting the value to 32803 equates to about 880rpm on mine??

Perhaps because mine's a BLT?...

Same here mate, Kev done mine today too, big difference....my exhaust doesn't rattle on start up! Lol

Or alternatively get to your local TPS and by a brand new OEM dogbone complete with new bushes already fitted. About £30 and welcome to luxury !

It's not my dogbone mount that's causing vibrations - it's my Superpro wishbone bushes!! ;)

Must be a BLT thing then Dan!

I'm sure u seen on a previous post once you raise the idle you can't lower it again. May be wrong though

Not sure why you would want to lower it? It's so much smoother!

Glad this is helping people out :)

I have raised and lowered mine while testing without any problems.

Vcds will put in the max number for you if you go higher than the number above. Maybe the blt engine allows higher numbers?

Unfortunately not. It seems to be capped at the same values that you quoted.

Never mind, it's smoother than it was most definitely!

bang on thread.    Going to be doing this to mine as i fitted vibratecnics  mounts, im sure dirt cant stick to my arches any more as it just vibrates off...  ill have no car left soon lol

Shame i cant run OE mounts with my paddle clutch, tho the bite with said clutch and the mounts is amazing...  Because race car!

Cheers Dark_hero for linking me up :)

Because diesel race car

to quieten down SMF put in a extra 1/2 litre of gearbox oil, easy done by jacking up passenger side and then top up
