Anyone on here done an SMF conversion or any other "Uprated" Clutch set-up on their 1.9 Tdi?

 

Currently car is a standard 1.9 ASV 110bhp, but I'm planning to tune to about 180-200bhp next year and would like to do the clutch first.

 

Reading all sorts of conflicting reports about noise, vibration etc and just wondered if anyone had done something similar and could advise?

 

Also seeing various prices running between £180ish up to £400-£500 for "Silent" kits, any advice on which kits to use would be great.

Well currently i have 2 mk1 vrs reps, both cars started as asv's (110bhps) models, my own now has a arl pd 150 engine with darkside smf kit and thats fairly noisey and thats sitting at 192bhp/322ft/lbs,  with plans next week at a revo meet at my local dealer to boost it too 220~230, my wifes unmodifed engine is on a smf conversion and thats silent, it just depends i guess on how it's manufactured.

^^sesachc^^ - do you know which kit went in the wifes car? Also do you mind me asking why you went with a PD150 swap rather than tuning the ASV 1.9 and is it an easy swap? Maybe I should go down that route rather than tuning mine?

 

Anyone else got any experience they can share?
