Child Seat damaging rear seat?

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

With my little girl reaching almost 1 year old, it was time to upgrade to a new larger rear facing car seat as she's grown out of the new born one. We purchased the BeSafe iZi Kid i-Size primarily because its one of the rear facing child seat that complies with the new EU regulations that came into effect last year. It also happens to match the VRS interior too.

Anyway, this child seat has a front brace that presumably increases the stability of the chair. Whilst I obviously don't want to compromise on the safely of my daughter, I don't want the back seat deformed. I'm a little concerned on how the car's rear seat will cope with something pushed firmly against it for 3+ years.....particularly as I plan to keep my VRS long term.

Any thoughts or worrying about nothing?

I've had this in some way shape or form on every car I've had since having kids.

My Mk2 vRS with full leather was quite badly affected. I've found that Skoda seat covers have a tenancy to stretch, the leather particularly and the foam deforms badly.

I bought a couple of seat covers (Diono Ultra Mats I think) and they've really helped, my MK3 Elegance rear seats are more or less unmarked.

Think its the right solution child safety-wise. I've had (front facing) child seats in my four year old Scout for the whole time, and when you take them out, there is an impression, but it disappears with a rub. Worst case it might be a re-trim, but I think its worth it.

I have neat seat covers such as these:

Not too sure if they are still sold, but worth a try on eBay, gum tree, mumsnet etc for secondhand one.

Or a couple of new options here:
