Interesting thread.

Hi all, I only buy older cars so don't know if my comments are relevant. I drove Skoda's for years the last being a 1998 Felicia which I loved and owned for 6/7 years. I let it go and had a variety of different motors. My current car is a 2005 Octavia Elegance Estate diesel which I've owned for 5/6 months and to be honest I can't get on with it. I don't know what it is but I just can't settle with it. I'm on the lookout !

I have no interest in buying cars new (closest I've been is ex-demo), so my opinions are from used cars only. Having moved both our cars from VAG to east-asia, where you don't get to pick options, only colour and trim level, I don't think I'll want to go back to the options lottery manufacturers with short warranties.

Vehicle manufacturering has got extremely expensive over the last couple of years.

More money now has to be spent on R&D and tooling as many manufacturers are offering more than 3 years warranty.

Hence why you know see so many brands sharing projects and products to reduce costs.
